About
Who is Nick?
I'm a self-taught creative front-end developer with the communication skills of your favorite account manager.
Having spent years in sales and account management, I understand the intricacies of projects ranging from simple in scope, to the most complex (and the headaches that can come along with all of them). Armed with this experience, I'm able to work with clients in a way few developers can: directly.
Need someone to build, update, and/or maintain your website?
Reach out! There's no project/budget too big or too small. I have tested and experienced partnerships in place to handle workloads of all sizes, as well as references availible on request. I'm currently taking on freelance and/or contract work (including work with agencies).
Feel free to take a look at some of my past projects here.
Why is Nick's face on a snowboard emoji?!? 🏂
Apart from coding, snowboarding has been, and continues to be my life-long passion. In the winter, I work as a snowboard coach at Mount Snow Academy in West Dover, VT. I currently hold both a Level 2 and Freestyle 2 Certification from AASI, and I'm a Level 100 Coach and Level C Judge with USASA.
I also studied Psychology with a focus in Neuroscience at UMass Amherst, where I officially became a published scientist (albiet in abstract form 😁).

Target Species Acquired
The owner of Target Species Acquired approached me about making a website for his growing hand-painted fishing lure business. He wanted a clean/basic layout that would stand out from other generic eCommerce sites. I built this site using Vanilla JavaScript for a responsive front-end, and built a server on the back-end using Node.js to securely handle PayPal requests. Go check out some of TSA's lures! 🎣Tank Battle
Arcade style game made using Vanilla JavaScript. Optimized for both Mobile and Desktop use, it has two game-modes and simple AI competition. Some of my friends think it's too hard - I just think they don't like a challenge! What do you think?Suarez Tree Services
Dynamic and responsive website built using Wordpress and Elementor. Suarez Tree Services was a small company with a few jobs when I first developed their site. They've since grown their online presence and their book of business has grown along with it. STS chose to use Wordpress because of their own familiarity with the CMS and thus had the ability to maintain it themselves. UPDATE: STS sold their buisness so the site is no longer live. It's a great success story though! This Website!
My favorite part of this site is the snowboard animation at the top of the page. The animation is made entirely from Vanilla JavaScript and utilizes the canvas element in HTML. I also had some fun with the latest CSS trends while doing the styling, and utilized some jQuery as well. Feel free to take a look at the repository and take which ever code snippets you'd like!Selection of projects I worked on as an Account Manager 👨🏻💼
Comfort Shield HVAC
The general manager of Comfort Shield approached me while I was in my former position as a Buisness Development Executive at a digital marketing company. They needed a website update and had a bad experience in the past. By walking them through a development and design process (which I helped structure), we were able exceed their needs. They currently have great SEO and have continued to grow their business.Modern Apotheca
The owner of Modern Apotheca was someone who I had originally worked with in a Business Development and Account Management capacity while he was working at another business. While he was in that role, we primary provided him with social media and PPC work, but also provided a number of static landing pages which greatly boosted his SEO. After leaving that company to start Modern Apotheca, we were the first choice for him to build his new website from the ground up.Selection of boilerplate plug-ins that I've built and use in projects 🔌
Basic Pop-up Image Plug-in
I built this simple plug-in to use in projects that require multiple images to be enlarged by the user. It has no dependencies, which makes it extremely lightweight, and is quickly integrated in a five step process. It's W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) friendly and utilizes the alt-text that's already being used in your images. Feel free to check out the example page and visit the GitHub repository for integration directions.Contact

I always love to hear about projects. Even if we don't end up working together/collaborating, I'm happy to lend an ear!
